First Impression Review – IPSY Glam Bag January 2018

Hello Friends,

So, I'm definitely not sporty enough to truly appreciate the aesthetic of the Glam Bag this month. Maybe I should learn to be though, idk – I’m not very exercise inclined. I’m much more bed and cuddles inclined. My lazy butt likes the bright colors but thinks florals and sparkles are more my jam.

My IPSY bag for January 2018 included a 50 g Coffee Scrub in Coconut by The Coffee Scrub, a 0.5 Fl Oz Balance Hydrating and Calming Serum by Lue by Jean Seo, a 1 g Mary-Lou Manizer by TheBalm Cosmetics, a 2.25 g Eye Artiste Single Shadow in VIP by Absolute New York, and a 6.5 ml Velvet Liquid Lipstick in DF by Hola Neon.

I love the smell of coffee, and so that was quite satisfying. What was unsatisfying was the fact that little bits of coffee grounds wound up everywhere in my bathroom. Maybe I’m just horribly messy? I don’t know, but I do know that I had to rinse out the shower after getting out, as a result of coffee grounds adhering to places that I didn’t even know that I touched. TBH, it wasn’t so bad – as it only took an additional minute or two. But in the future, I’ll probably just stick to soap. Educational experience though.

I am quite naïve in the “serum world”. I don’t know if what I have to say is useful. Nonetheless, this felt hydrating on my skin. It was unscented and dried quickly, both of which I appreciated. When applying, I would recommend moving quickly, as it is easily spread at first, but after a few seconds becomes a little tacky and pulls at your skin when you rub at it.

Mary-Lou Manizer by TheBalm Cosmetics:

I love TheBalm Cosmetics. The color pay-off on their products is amazing, I don’t necessarily consider them all day wear, as I have noticed them fade. But they look beautiful on and last a good few hours before beginning to fade. This highlighter/shimmer/eyeshadow fits the bill perfectly. I am always on the look out for a good highlight (especially one that is multi-use) and was excited to see this in my bag! Looks gorgeous on!

Eye Artiste Single Shadow in VIP by Absolute New York:

You know that feeling when you swatch some powder makeup and the top layer is shimmery and immediately after it isn’t? Yea, same. The color is actually really pretty, just not as shimmery as you think it might be – which is cool, I guess. Just a bit of a pet peeve. I used it as both an eyeshadow and as a contour. A bit difficult to blend on the cheek, but worked well on my eyes. (Which is what it’s designed for – so I can’t complain.)

Velvet Liquid Lipstick in DF by Hola Neon:

This lipstick is super soft and smooth. My lips seriously felt like pillows after applying. I was quickly in love with this. Fast forward to four hours later, no eating or drinking, my lips are a bit dry and I look at my phone to see that most of the lipstick has faded (pic below). Kinda sad it isn’t more long lasting – still, it’s a pretty color and would be good for a couple hours if you’re okay with reapplying.

Here I am after using all the above products! As always, sporting that duck face cause I don’t photo well.
