Recipe: Chicken & Rice Porridge/Congee (As seen in Disney’s Mulan)

A La Disney’s Mulan, here’s a recipe for Chicken & Rice Porridge (with a delicious, optional side of bacon!).

So, I have to shout out my boyfriend for this because although this is a common meal for us (adapted from Vietnamese Chao Ga), he suggested a date where we made it together and watched a popular Disney movie where it was served, Mulan!

Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival 2018 - Food and Prices

For those of you out there that don't know what the Food and Wine Festival is, I'll tell you :). The tradition started out small, with only two kiosks in DCA, in 2006. It ran through 2010 until it stopped and returned in full swing in 2016. Since 2016, it's been getting bigger and better! This year, there will be 13 kiosks making up the primary food and wine sales, along with a sit down menu at the Paradise Grill Area, and a Festival Beer Garden. However, it's so much more than that. There are opportunities to take wine tasting seminars, watch celebrity chefs at work, attend food educations, schedule special dinners, attend culinary demonstrations, listen to live music, and more.

Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays 2017 - Food and Prices

For those of you out there that don't know what the festival of holidays is, I'll give you a quick low down on the whole shebang. At Disney's California Adventure Park, there is an annual celebration (this year from November 11th to January 7th) that combines a food festival, live entertainment, and holiday cheer (including Kwanzaa, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.) - all for the low price of admission and inexpensive bits of cuisine (see sarcasm here and pricing below). Still, I adore it - the feeling of joy, community, and curiosity is unrivaled - but maybe I just hold food in high esteem...
